About
I have been working in the WZB research group on "Civil Society, Citizenship and Political Mobilization in Europe" since 2005. Since the group ceased to exist in June 2011, I am associated to the project group "Civil Engagement".
I was involved in the research project "Democracy in Europe and the Mobilization in Europe" (Demos, http://demos.iue.it) that compared global justice movements in Europe. Later I analysed the coverage of G8-protests in Heiligendamm 2007 and worked on the project "Documentation and Analysis of Protest Events in the Federal Republic" (Prodat) and surveyed protesters who opposed the urban development and infrastructure project "Stuttgart 21".
My main interests are protests, social movements and the public sphere. I studied sociology, philosophy and psychology at the University of Marburg and at the Free University Berlin. I am preparing my PhD about communication strategies of global justice groups at the Free University Berlin. Interested in subversive and odd protests or odd reactions to protest I am running a micro blog at http://twitter.com/oddprotest.
